Changelog

Formula changes, figure updates, and corrections — newest first. If a number on this site changes, the change lands here the same day.

2026-07-29Ninth calculator: commission

Commission joins the set — flat rate, marginal tiers, and draw against commission, with the rule most commission calculators omit: for non-exempt employees a nondiscretionary commission must be folded into the regular rate before overtime is computed (29 CFR §778.117). Suite grew to 36 cases and 96 assertions. The pay raise page also now covers the pay increase, salary raise, and percentage-increase phrasings on the same URL rather than as separate pages.

2026-07-29Citation audit — 24 corrections

An adversarial review of every legal citation in the new content found real errors, now fixed: three travel-time claims cited 29 CFR §785.39 when they belonged to §785.35, §785.38 and §785.37; all 14 links to Part 785 used the wrong subchapter path; the EEOC severance guidance link was dead (404); the FICA glossary entry implied the 7.65% total stops at the Social Security wage base, contradicting the Medicare entry directly below it; and the rounding worked example contained two mis-rounded punches and a wrong weekly total (now 16 minutes returned, 24 taken, 8 lost). The “7-minute rule” is now labelled as industry practice rather than regulatory text, because the phrase appears nowhere in §785.48.

2026-07-29Pay stub decoder and timekeeping rules

Two explanatory pages added: /glossary/ decodes all 30 line items on a US pay stub, and /timekeeping-rules/ covers what counts as hours worked under 29 CFR Part 785. Each tool page also gained two substantive sections, and the hourly-to-annual reference table now lives on the salary converter rather than in separate thin pages.

2026-07-28Launch

Site live with 8 calculators (pay raise, overtime, time and a half, time to decimal, salary ↔ hourly, biweekly pay, PTO payout, severance) and the public golden suite: 36 cases, 96 assertions, run on every deploy.

2026-07-28Trust pages

About, editorial policy, disclosure, and this changelog published. Author identity added to page metadata.

2026-07-27FICA figures verified for 2026

Social Security wage base confirmed at $184,500 (SSA; up from $176,100), employee cap $11,439 at 6.2%. Engine cap behaviour covered by tests.

2026-07-27State tax pages built — and withheld

A 50-state paycheck engine exists in the codebase, but state pages are not published: per-state withholding tables aren't yet verified against each state's official employer guide, and unverified tax math doesn't ship. See the methodology's admission rule.

2026-07-26Research phase

Keyword and SERP research concluded: generic, self-verifiable tools first; state tax calculators indefinitely out of scope for a one-person site.
